One of the greatest luxuries that the Concord Academy community has heading into the 2022-2023 academic year is our student council. With the responsibility to hear and make decisions with student voices in mind, the council's role is integral to student leadership at CA. As such, the leader of this group is a key piece to a successful school year. With Jay Talwar as Student Head of School (HoS) this year, CA is in good hands.

The newest student HoS was elected last spring, through a voting process involving all of the members of the CA community. Jay gave an entertaining and impressive speech, inspiring confidence that he will succeed during his time in the position. With goals in mind like, “re-emphasizing the importance of chapels, and rejuvenating assemblies,” and “reviving a special one-week term where academic classes would be replaced by fun sessions,” Jay has the backing of the student body. His ideas are intriguing and achievable. He has already put in copious amounts of his time and brain power to plan and ensure a smooth transition into this school year. His style of leadership and work ethic will continue to make CA a special community.

Whether it be volunteering to act out scenes from Macbeth in Freshman English, carrying the ball bag to Moriarty, or giving words of encouragement after a mistake at baseball practice, Jay does it all. He is one of the most supportive, genuine, and dedicated individuals at CA. Being a student, athlete, musician, and school leader, Jay has his work cut out for him, and yet, there is no one that is better suited for the role. In such an exciting time, with an entire school year ahead, it is a luxury to have Jay leading through the good and the bad.

His admiration and love for the CA community are part of why he ran for this position and will be key to his success as he makes meaningful decisions in this role. The CA community is extremely lucky to have Jay Talwar as our Student Head of School this year. After speaking to him about his position, we know that Jay is ready to make 2022-2023 a fun and memorable school year.
