Fall is not only beautiful because of the foliage or the seasonal drinks, but above all, for the plethora of fashion trends that it brings out.
In hopes to find the consensus around fall fashion at Concord Academy, the Centipede reached out to many students to find their opinions on what fall fashion is to them.
“Cozy” was a term repeated multiple times, giving weight to different items of clothing such as flannels, knit sweaters, pathwork, and jeans. Other members of the community opted for a layered approach still in an attempt to stay cozy, but strove to wear items such as black skirts. “A little black skirt with some sheer tights,” said Emmie Fish ’25. Overall, tights are a popular accessory among CA students, with varying opinions on which type are the most optimal for fall: sheer, lacy, patterned, or even leg warmers. An outfit is never complete without a complimenting shoe. Many opt for a pair of lace up Converse or a slip-on boot like a Blundstone, which is optimal for snow during the fall. As for color schemes, under the light colors of the changing leaves, many opt for a darker outfit. Specific colors mentioned included burgundy, dark green, and brown.
Some other students interviewed didn't seem to care about their fall attire. Jeffrey Bailey ’25 responded with, “I reach for what’s on top [in the closet]”. In a similar vein, some students don’t know what they will wear until the morning, after they check the weather.
In summation, Fall Fashion at CA differs for everyone. There are certainly throughlines and trends, but like the best fashion, many choose their outfits based on how they are feeling and what they want to wear.
