After almost two years since the end of the last official season, Concord Academy’s fall sports programs are back.
The 2019 season was extremely successful for CA sports, with the teams securing CA’s fourth victory in a row in the Chandler Bowl, a yearly competition against Pingree School. Boys Varsity soccer won both the EIL title and the Class C 2019 NEPSAC soccer tournament trophy, with an impressive record of 19-1. Girls Varsity Volleyball had a slow start to their last season, but finished strong with a final record of 11-6. The Girls Varsity Cross Country team earned sixth place at EILs, and the Boys team placed second. Then, at the NEPSAC Division III Championships, the Boy’s Varsity team finished third, and Girl’s Varsity had each runner post a personal best. CA’s fall sub-varsity teams- Girls JV Volleyball, Boys JV Soccer, and Boys Thirds Soccer, had an extremely successful 2019 season, with 28 wins and only three losses between the three teams. While Girls Varsity Soccer and Girls Varsity Field Hockey did not have the best 2019 seasons, they’ve had a very promising start this year and hope to continue their success.
This fall, now that half the athletes from the last official season have graduated, the programs look very different. Many players are experiencing their first season ever on a CA team, not just ninth graders. Always a big event, this season the Chandler Bowl will be more exciting than ever, with CA trying to hold on for the fifth year in a row.
