Ejemen Omonzane ’25 is a boarder from New Jersey and New York. When asked the reason why she chose Concord Academy, Ejemen shared a surprising perspective. She said, “You would not believe me, but I was a quiet kid growing up and my mom wanted me to talk to more people.” As such, Ejemen’s favorite part about CA is the boarding community, which helped her grow out of her shell; she even described it as her second home. “After you find your people and your place, [CA] will not become a place that you dread,” she explained. As the Head of House for Hobson, Ejemen always brings a comforting presence to the community.
Ejemen’s hobbies range from dance to volleyball. At CA, she is the co-head of Sensational—the K-pop dance club on campus. Ejemen started dancing from a young age under the influence of her uncle, who is a singer. “I would listen to my uncle sing and start dancing,” she said. Apart from dance, Ejemen is also the captain of Girls’ Varsity Volleyball. Her journey with volleyball began when her friends strongly encouraged her to try out; from there, she gradually began to fall in love with the sport. She is always an enthusiastic teammate and captain—evident in the fact that Ejemen has even lost her voice during previous volleyball matches. Other roles that Ejemen is involved in at CA are Umoja and Boarding Council.
In the future, Ejemen hopes to pursue sports medicine. She explained that she has always loved watching sports, saying, “Now that I am an athlete myself, I want to learn more about long-term injuries and how to fix them.” Participating in sports at CA helped Ejemen develop a clearer understanding of her future ambitions.
With her bubbly and humorous personality, Ejemen is a senior that many students both look to for help and look up to. When asked to provide a piece of advice, she answered: “Always put yourself first. The reason you are here is because of yourself, not others. Do not get yourself caught up in other things because it will not do you any good.”
