As the spring athletic season tryouts ended before March break, the season will kick off in March. With the start of the spring season, many look forward to the much anticipated Spring Cup, a Concord Academy tradition. During this past fall sports season, every CA team traveled to the Pingree School for the annual Chandler Bowl. CA winter athletes also recently competed in the Battle against Lexington Christian Academy. In these annual competitions, almost every Concord Academy sports team of the specific season competes with the sports teams of a rival school. In these seasonal competitions, the school with the most wins in their athletic program takes home the victory. In this spring season, many look forward to the third annual Spring Cup, where CA’s spring athletic teams compete for the cup.
In last year’s Spring Cup, Concord brought home the cup by winning most of their games against the Bancroft School. Concord’s boys varsity tennis, girls varsity tennis, varsity baseball, and boys lacrosse teams all triumphed to win the Spring Cup. The Bancroft School hosted last year’s Cup, so this year’s will be held at Concord.
Concord Academy Director of Athletics, Sue Johnson, confirmed that this year’s third annual Spring Cup will be held at CA on April 26. Johnson also stated that the teams competing in this year’s Cup will be boys lacrosse, girls lacrosse, softball, baseball, girls varsity tennis, and boys varsity tennis. Unfortunately, the Bancroft School’s track and field team is not large enough to compete against Concord, and they do not have a sailing team, so those teams will not compete in the Spring Cup.
Happening right at Concord Academy on the 26th of April, come out to watch this year's third annual Spring Cup, where almost every Spring athletics team faces off against Bancroft School to win it all. For those competing in the Spring Cup, best of luck!
