As part of the array of changes that cycle annually through Concord Academy, a new cohort of student leaders become responsible for curating school-wide events and cultivating community culture. One of those students committed to working toward a more vibrant and connected community is Student Vice Head of School Cameron Levesque ’25. Cameron, a day student from Sudbury, MA, has spent most of his life here in Massachusetts and attended a public middle school. He was initially drawn to CA because he craved a sense of community and admired how the school embraced each student as themselves, and appreciates what they had to offer. In his freshman year, Cameron developed a friendship with former VHoS Zachary Tung ’22, who was a supportive leader the former could look up to, and someone who listened to any concerns with an open mind. Cameron hopes to embody this and serve as an approachable leader and friend to the rest of the community while also addressing issues on an individual and school-wide scale.
Cameron’s primary goal as vice head of school is to reinvigorate a sense of community across CA, which was emulative of his freshman year. He intends to collaborate with other student leadership representatives as well as the administration and the broader Concord community to more deeply and intentionally integrate community service into our student experience. He hopes that these endeavors can help build a stronger relationship between students and their surroundings.
Because he is heavily involved in the performing arts and film departments, a leader of CA’s queer affinity space (Q2), and an avid track and field competitor, Cameron understands the power of community through varied interests. In his extensive involvement across a range of passions, Cameron has been able to form connections with students in all facets of the CA community. From these positive experiences, he is motivated to coordinate more club-based community events to ensure that students can explore a plethora of interests, just as CA has allowed him to do. Q^2, CA’s queer affinity space, has particularly helped Cameron gain experience in planning and executing successful community events. Moreover, it has helped him understand communication between students and the administration, providing him with the essential skills for his current position.
Cameron advises and encourages each student to take advantage of every opportunity at CA. For him, this has meant learning to pole vault, taking a constitutional law class, and spending his junior fall at a semester school on the Maine coast. At the same time, it has meant hanging out in the evenings on the quad or the lower field watching the sunset with friends. Now, it means taking on the role of Student Vice Head of School. With a strong community-oriented mindset, CA can be sure to expect a year governed in service of students under Cameron’s leadership.
