Winter sports teams are kicking off their seasons, and Concord Academy’s all-gender varsity wrestling team is excited. The team is coming off of a strong season in 2021–2022, having finished first in their league by a large margin and placing second at the Eastern Independent League (EIL) tournament by only 5.5 points.
Some of the teams the wrestling team will be facing this season are Lexington Christian Academy (LCA), Marionapolis Prep, Eagle Hill School, Lawrence Academy, Landmark, Beaver Country Day, Portsmouth Abbey, and Chapel Hill Chauncy Hall. The team lost some crucial components in last year's graduating class, so it will be interesting to see how they build on the team members that remain. Some of the exciting meets this season will be against LCA during the Battle of Lexington and Concord and the EIL tournament—if they can qualify once again.
Despite their successful season last year, there are no guarantees; it is a new season with new opportunities. Tryouts have concluded, and people have weighed in. With only four home meets this season, you should make sure to come out to see the wrestling team compete. Good luck to them this winter and go green!
